Coach Al Evans has been coaching soccer for 17 years. He has coached school, recreation and select teams from ages U-6 to U-19. His teams have won both recreation and select championships as well as invitational tournaments. He has a state level coaching certificate from USSF.
Dr. Evans teaches chemistry and AP chemistry and has been chairperson of the Science Department at Etowah. He is a National Board Certified teacher who has been named STAR teacher four times during his career. He is an Atlanta native who received his B.A. from Yale University, his M.Ed. from the University of Florida and his Ph. D. from Georgia State. In high school he played football, wrestled and ran track, receiving state honors in all three sports. For two years he was Georgia High School Decathlon Champion. He ran track for four years at Yale and was assistant track coach at the University of Florida while working on his Masters degree. In addition to soccer, he has high school head coach experience in track, wrestling, cross country and American football.
Al is married to Dr. Cassandra Brown Evans who is an Emergency Physician. All four of his children have played the highest level of select soccer and two have played ODP and one in college. Louis graduated from Trinity College and is currently a law student at Mercer Law School, Stuart is at the University of Denver, Sterling is at at Yale University and Catherine graduated from The Walker School. For recreation Al enjoys tending his vegetable garden and orchards in Canton. Go Lady Eagles!

| John Murnan has been coaching soccer for over 17 years including: Head Coach, Girls Soccer, Atlantic High School, Delray Beach, FL 1989-1997, Director of Recreational Coaching Development, Delray Beach Soccer League 1997-1999, Director of Coaching, Jupiter Sting, Jupiter, FL 1999-2001, Technical Director, Palm Beach United, West Palm Beach, FL 2001-2003, and Director of Coaching, Wellington Soccer Club, Wellington, FL 2004 to Present. John is additionally a member of the Florida Youth Soccer Association (FYSA) Coaching Education and ODP Staffs from 1993 to 2005 he taught coaching education courses to coaches at all levels in South Florida and was Head and assistant coach for Girl’s ODP teams in youngest age groups (U13 through U15). John is also a Freelance Writer in which he writes and produces science education videos for Science Screen Report which are then distributed free of charge to schools across the country. He also writes books to support coaching education programs for soccer clubs. He has four books for the U6-U12 age group that coaches use. He additionally writes books to support a parent education class that he developed to help parents better understand soccer and their role in their child’s development. All books are available at www.gwtc.org . John has a Bachelor’s Degree from Cornell College in Mt. Vernon Iowa with majors in Biology and Physical Education. He holds a Master of Science Degree from the University of Illinois with a major in Kinesiology (Exercise Physiology). John holds diverse certifications including being a National Board Certified Teacher (Adolescents and Young Adults/Science), United States Soccer Federation “A” License (Butler University), and USSF National Youth License (University of Georgia, Athens, GA). With High School soccer (Forest Hill High School) and College Soccer (Cornell College – 1982 Midwestern Conference Champs / 1984 MVP) experience while still playing whenever possible, John comes to the Etowah Lady Eagles soccer program with extensive experience and talents. |

| CHRIS STAHLER is in his eigth year at Etowah High School. He has also been
the Varsity Soccer Coach for the past eight years. The Varsity Soccer team
won the Region Championship his first year as the coach. Under Coach
Stahler, the Eagles have been in the sweet sixteen and elite eight in the
state. Coach Stahler teaches Social Studies, including Government,
Economics, and History. Coach Stahler graduated with two degrees from State
University of West Georgia, one in Criminal Justice and the other in
Secondary Education. He received his Masters degree in Educational
Leadership from Kennesaw State University. He then received his Specialist
degree in Curriculum from Piedmont College. He looks forward to another
successful year of Etowah Boys Soccer. Coach Stahler and his wife, Jamie
have a daughter, Samantha Grace. Coach Stahler loves to travel
with his family, especially to the beach. |

Coach Tim Rice is beginning his 16th year at Etowah. He has been teaching as well as coaching football and soccer for 26 years. Coach Rice has coached at Stone Mountain and Forest Park High schools. Tim was the JV boys coach at Stone Mountain (4 years) and the Varsity boys coach at Forest park High school (6 years). Coach Rice served as the varsity girls coach at Etowah for 13 years. His 2001 team advanced to the state quarter finals and finished the year ranked 8th overall in the AAAA classification. Tim is a graduate of Georgia State University and is married to the former Ms. Gloria Dianne Smith ( for 25 years). They have two children: Matthew (22 years old) and Christin (18 years old). |
